Special Needs Trusts

When someone receiving needs-based government benefits, such as Medicaid or SSI, accepts a lump sum settlement, they may lose eligibility and face overwhelming medical costs. A Special Needs Trust (SNT) can protect their benefits while allowing settlement funds to be used for approved goods and services not covered by government programs.

QSFs

A qualified settlement fund (QSF), or 468b fund, is used to manage settlement funds. It allows defendants to pay their share into the fund and be released from litigation. An independent trustee manages the funds, resolves claims, and structures payouts for plaintiffs. QSFs offer flexibility in asset allocation, including cash, annuities, and other structured settlements.
